Artist Bio 

Lynita has been painting professionally for over 30 years. At the beginning of her career she was trained by Jeannie Maddox, an internationally credited and acclaimed artist.  Maddox heavily influenced Lynita’s photo-realistic style.  After graduating from Auburn University Lynita worked as an art director at a Birmingham, Alabama Advertising Agency.  Experience with design, layout, colors and composition further prepared her for a career in art.  

A move to Jacksonville, Florida where she received her first portrait commission launched her career in portraiture. From that commission others followed. By this time Lynita was raising children, but she always had a client patiently waiting on a commission. Today, over 30 years later Lynita has painted portraits for clients around the country. Lynita's passion in art seems to revolve around the human figure. Her love for people and art is a perfect blend in portraiture and figurative painting, with still life, which contains a "human element" being a close second. 

Lynita is one of the most enjoyable people that you will ever meet. She never meets a stranger and her laughter is infectious. Commissioning an oil portrait from Lynita will not only result in your owning a cherished painting but it will also result in a cherished friendship that will last a lifetime. 

Lynita is a member of the Mountain Brook Art Association, Alabama Plein Air Artists  and Portrait Society of America. Lynita's paintings have won a number of awards and she has been featured in several publications and shows.  When not working on a painting Lynita can be found in her home studio in Montevallo, Alabama where she shares her passion for art by teaching art workshops.
